EISTEDDFOD TURNS TEN WITH A DAZZLING SHOWCASE OF TALENT
By Linda Muller

The redlands Eisteddfod celebrates it's tenth anniversary this year, kicking off with an outstanding music competition.

Now one of the bigest competitions of it's type in Australia, the Eisteddfod continues with sections in Dance, Speech and Drama and a special Disability section (this year on November 7 at the Redlands Performing Arts Centre).

It's showcase is the 'SouthEast Aria and Concerto Competition', created in 2007 as an extension of the Eisteddfod. This caters for the more advanced vocal and instrumental performers, providing much needed performance oportunities and significant financial rewards. Many winners of this competition have gone on to study and perform overseas.
This years competition will be held from August 17 to 25 at RPAC.

The 2010 Eisteddfod kicked off on May 15 with the Music solo sections, featuring, vocal, piano, string, brass and woodwind sections. "Our panel of world class adjudicators were literally 'blown away' with the standard of the competition. String adjudicator Antoni Bonetti said that in 40 years of adjudicating he had never seen such an amazing high standard in a competition of pre-tertiary students." president Duchesne Barry said.

Dance solos this year will run from june 29 to july 7 at Thornlands State School Hall. Dance groups will be held from july 8 to 11 at Ormiston College's Lingo Lin Theatre with Speech and Drama from August 23 to 25 and August 30 to September 2 at RPAC.
